The 98 new cases, all drawn from amongst the general population, are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (41), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (9), Kakching (5), Kangpokpi (2), Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (2), Churachandpur (9) and Chandel (3).
The 98 cases were detected while testing samples at RIMS (14), JNIMS (2) and other testing centres (82).The second highest single day surge was recorded on July 16 when Manipur returned figures of 94 new Covid cases. With the addition of 98 new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases has gone up to 1,38,984 including 5017 Central security personnel. The State witnessed no death in the same period of time and the 98 cases were confirmed while testing a total of 724 samples to return a daily positivity rate of 13.5 percent.
